Families have countless opportunities to partake in these events, but remember most of them happen before Easter. If you are not sure exactly how to celebrate, if your new to the area, or just had a child and need ideas, we have plenty!
Easter Egg Hunts are always a favorite amongst the kids. There are many different chances to get it on an Easter Egg Hunt. If your family is looking for something big and exciting the Easter Eggtastic Event at Century Park in Greer is a great option. This event takes place on March 24th from 11-1pm. Each child can collect up to eight eggs and only 10-20 children go out at a time. There will also be free inflatable and activities for the kids. The Community Easter Egg Drop at Sunset Park in Mauldin is a must see! The event will take place on March 24th from 12-4. What makes this even so exciting, is that a helicopter will fly by and drop thousands of eggs over a big field for the kids to go run and put them in their basket. The event is organized into three separate egg hunts based off the child ages. At 1pm will be ages 0-2, 2:30 will be for preschool-K5, and the last one at 3:15 for 1st-5th grade. There will also be free activities going on from 12-1:45. If you have a child with a lot of energy then you could even manage to do both events! Can’t make these events? There are even more egg hunts different days in different areas. Simpsonville, Piedmont and Spartanburg will each have an egg hunt on March 31st. Many of the churches in the area also do some type of event for Easter as well.
If you don’t feel like dealing with a crowd, you can always make a scavenger hunt at home! All you need is some plastic eggs and some candy! Growing up, as I got older my parents would even put some money in some of the eggs, so my siblings and I would always race to get the most eggs and see who got the most money! You can even create an egg toss at home and see who drops it first or compete against your family during a bunny race. The only thing required is some old pillow cases.
Well you might be thinking what other fun ideas can I do with my family? There are many different arts and crafts out there perfect for Easter. Dyeing eggs is always fun and in these days there’s even ways to not make such a big mess! What can get better than that! Kits can be found at most stores such as Target and Walmart. You can cut out ovals and have each member of the family decorate their own Easter Egg. Making food to look like an Easter bunny is always entertaining for the kids and yummy to eat!

Now that you know some of the activities you can do for Easter, let’s talk about the Easter basket itself. If your family decides to make an Easter basket this year, there are many different things you can put in them. Most baskets have some form of fake grass in there along with a whole lot of candy. You might include some coloring books or some small toys such as a toy truck or barbie doll. If you have younger kids they will be happy with pretty much anything you put in the basket for them. Some ideas are some snack foods your child can eat or small stuffed animals.
